Montmartre.. what an amazing and inescapable place of Paris to discover..
This quarter is worldwide well-known because of its history but also because of its unique atmosphere.
At the begin, Montmartre was the heart of Paris for artists. Did you know that Picasso lived in Montmartre ?
Walking in the streets of Montmartre, you will see traces from the past. In fact, Montmartre remains and will always be the home of artists and art. Take a look at place du Tertre and you will understand what I mean. This place is full of painters and drawers selling their creations. Montmartre breathes through the artists living in its streets … and even the streets are full of sketches and creatives painting.
I heard that Banksy made a tag in a street close to this place.. maybe you will recognize it.
So, if you have some days to spent in Paris, take a moment for this beautiful neighborhood.
Beginning the day by walking in the street can be a good idea to discover the atmosphere of this place in the morning…everything is so quiet at this moment. You will see artists taking their seats and installing their equipments.
You should indulge yourself to take a “coffee and croissant” in one of the Café on Place du Tertre during this daily ritual.
Once the artists and the crowd will have found their rythm, follow it and take a stroll around the streets. There are so many places and corners to see, it is your to discover them!
During the afternoon, I recommend you to visit the Montmartre-Dali Gallery, which is a very nice gallery compiling differents artworks from Dali (statutes and painting) and other contemporary artists. This gallery possesses one of the last statue of “ Little Dancer of Fourteen Years” by Degas
You also can visit the Dali museum which describe Dali’s life and inspirations. The museum exposes lots of well-known pieces of Dali’s work. And who can express artistic creation freedom better than him ?
For your dinner, you’ll find some delicious tables at every corner, but Le Chamarré Montmartre is one of the gastronomic restaurant where you’re ensured to spent a good evening with a great food experience. The Chef Antoine Heerah only works with selected and fresh products, delivering an excellent and creative French cuisine.
Finally you can also visit the Sacré-Coeur Church, and we made an article about it, which you find here.
