« Grand Budapest, Chef d’œuvres de Budapest », at the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris : an exhibition which compiles many artists, with Masterpieces from Middle Age to Modernism.
This exhibition brings together emblematic artworks from Hungarian art. You will discover works by Masters such as Dürer, Greco, Goya, Manet or also Gauguin. The exhibition space is organized around different rooms, each one correspond to a specific artistic period.
You can only enjoy your time in this exhibition that mixes paintings and sculptures. The best part is to discover a 1982 painting by Hungarian Artist Pal Szinyei Merse called « L’Alouette ». This painting embodies his work as the precursor of the Hungarian impressionism. L’Alouette represents a naked wo men, seen from her back, laying down in the grass. The title L’Alouette refers a bird in the beautiful blue sky of the painting, which occupy most of the visual space of the masterpiece. This exhibition is an occasion to see together artists that you may no know and that you may not have the opportunity to see again. This is also a great way to understand and review how Hungarian Art evolved through history.
